Tuesday Night Men 2025-2026
League Rules

The Tuesday Night Men bowling league shall be sanctioned with the United States Bowling Congress through the Greater Denver Association. The league shall consist of up to 24 teams with up to 8 rostered members. Of the rostered members, 5 will bowl nightly. No substitutions will be allowed.

SCHEDULE:

The league will bowl on Tuesday nights for 33 weeks, starting on August 26, 2025 and ending on April 21, 2026. A pre-season meeting will be held on August 19, 2025. A fifteen-minute practice will start promptly at 6:45 PM with scoring starting at 7:00 PM. The league will not be bowling on December 30, 2025.

LEAGUE FORMAT:

The league season will be split into three sessions. The sessions will be split on 10/10/10 with the last week of each split being a position round. If a team wins two sessions the next highest finishing team in that session will advance to the final roll offs. If a team wins all three sessions, they will be declared league champions. To determine the winner of any playoff for first place, a one game series shall be bowled under the same conditions and rules governing league play during the regular season. An extra complete tenth frame shall be bowled in the event of a tie at the end of the playoff series. If other positions end in a tie, the prize money for the positions affected will be added together and divided equally among those teams tied Scores bowled in such playoffs shall not count toward individual or team averages or special prize awards offered by the league. The provisions of this rule shall apply to ties for the first place in each segment of the split season. At the end of each session a first-place winner will be named, and the team wins and losses will start over, but individual averages will be continued The winning teams of each session and the best overall record not to win a session shall roll off on a round robin schedule the last three weeks to determine the league champion. The rest of the league will bowl the last three weeks in a round robin style 5-9, 10-13, 14-17, etc. based on your team’s year long record.

FEES:

The league will be Captain & Crew format. Coal Creek Bowling will only collet lineage for 4 of the 5 bowlers each night. Total lineage per team per night will be collected at the rate of $60.00 ($15.00 x 4 + $0.00 x 1). The league secretary fee will be paid at the rate of $1.00 per bowler per week, payable only at the completion of the league schedule, unless otherwise specified. Full payment shall not be authorized until the secretary has furnished to the secretary of the local association all average sheets requested, including final average sheets, unless prior arrangements are made. The amount to be paid by each bowler each night shall be $25.00. Weekly fee breakdown by team is as follows: Lineage $60.00, Secretary Fee $5.00, Prize Fund $60.00. The bowling fees for the last two weeks shall be paid by each team before the completion of the fifth week of the league schedule. If a bowler is three weeks in arrears, that bowler will forfeit his individual points. Any bowler who quits the league will forfeit all monies paid to the league.

The league will be banked by Coal Creek Bowling. All monies collected will be deposited weekly.

AWARDS:

Prior to the start of the schedule a league prize sheet will be distributed (based on 24 teams – to be adjusted for the actual number of teams later)

To qualify for individual awards a bowler must have bowled two-thirds of the scheduled games.

Individuals can qualify for only one special award. Handicap will take precedent over Scratch and Series will take precedent over Game. A bowler must have bowled 15 games before Handicap scores count.

Teams can qualify for only one special award. Handicap will take precedent over Scratch and Series will take precedent over Game.

AVERAGES & HANDICAPS:

The Tuesday Night Men league uses entering averages for the first 3 weeks of bowling. Averages will be the prior season’s highest Standard Composite USBC average as listed on bowl.com. If a bowler does not have a bowl.com average, that bowler will establish an average on the first night of bowling.

The handicap will be calculated at 80 percent of 220. Maximum handicap for any bowler will be 50 pins.

The team handicap for each scheduled match shall be the total of the individual handicaps for the players in the lineup.

LINEUPS:

A minimum legal lineup must be present by the completion of the third frame of each game. A minimum legal lineup must include at least three players from a team’s current roster. Vacant bowlers are not counted towards a legal line up.

The team with the highest current standings shall set their lineup first. No change may be made in the order of players in the lineup during the series.

  • Exception: If each team has the same number of absentees and or vacancies, the players present must be placed in opposition to each other for individual matches and the winning team credited with the points for the absentees’ and or vacancies. If one of two teams has an absentee or vacancy and a player on the opposing team is unable to complete the series, and game in progress shall be completed with no change in the competing team’s lineup, However, the lineup of the team that lost its player must be changed if necessary, to comply with the lineup provision as listed above for any subsequent game(s) in the series.

ABSENTEE / VACANT SCORES:

Absentee scores shall be allowed when a team has a legal lineup, but less than a full lineup of a start of any game in a series. The absentee score shall be the absent member’s average, minus 10 pins. When there are additional members on a team’s roster, the absentee score of the member with the most games bowled must be used. If more than one absentee score is needed, the average less 10 pins of the absentee with the next highest number of games shall be used When two absentee members have the same number of games, the lower absentee score shall be used The handicap shall be figured on the actual average of the designated absentee.

When a team does not have enough players on its roster for a full lineup, a vacancy score of 160 minus 10 pins shall be used. The 160 score shall be the basis for the handicap.

UNEVEN NUMBER OF TEAMS:

If the league has an uneven number of teams, the team scheduled against the Bye team cannot be credited with the points by forfeit.

To earn the points an individual must bowl his average less 10 pins and the team must bowl the team average less 50 pins

PRE-BOWLS / POST-BOWLS:

A committee shall be appointed to determine what sufficient cause to grant a postponement is. In emergencies, the captain of the team unable to attend shall notify the opposing team captain and or the secretary or the president of the league or Coal Creek 303-673-0772 at the earliest opportunity.

A team requesting a postponement may bowl, in advance of or after the regularly scheduled league match, if authorized by the postponement committee; the score shall count in deciding league games however the scores will not qualify for USBC awards. When a qualified postponement is allowed it must be made up within three weeks of the regularly scheduled match or before the next position round. Individuals are not allowed to makeup (post-bowl).

A team or individual may pre-bowl if they know in advance that they have a scheduling problem. Pre-bowls do not require league or opposing team approval. Scoring sheets printed by the house must be turned in as proof of the scores shot during a pre-bowl

POINTS:

A total of thirty (30) points per weekly match will be awarded. Scoring shall be one (1) point for individual game and series, two (2) points for team game and four (4) points for team series.

Individual points will not be awarded on individual wins/losses if a bowler is absent, however absentee points will count on team totals.

TEAM CAPTAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team captains are responsible for collecting team monies and assuring all entries are properly recorded in the envelope. Team captains must turn envelopes into the secretary by the end of the first game. Team captains must turn in the re-cap sheets at the end of each night. No figures will be changed after both captains have signed the re-cap except the secretary may change arithmetic errors. The computer totals will be the final decisions in arithmetic errors between handwritten and computer scores.
